AI Kit Add-On Overview
The AI Kit add-on is a powerful suite of AI tools designed to enhance your digital asset management experience with Pics.io. These tools help automate and streamline the organization and retrieval of your digital assets.
For a long time, AI Kit consisted of image-oriented features designed to automatically generate descriptions, keywords, recognize faces, as well as a speech-to-text feature for videos and audios.
They are now bundled as a part of the legacy version of AI Kit, and will continue working as usual for customers who remain on the legacy version of AI Kit.
As AI Kit keeps expanding, Video Intelligence was introduced in a new version of AI Kit with a modular structure, so teams can enable only the capabilities they need:
It's possible to activate one or both packages. Switching to the new AI Kit will replace the legacy version of AI Kit, and will apply the new pricing.
For ease of comparison, we are listing the features included in the legacy version of the AI Kit, followed up by a list of features in the updated version too.

Image Intelligence
AI Keywording: Automatically generate relevant keywords for your images to improve searchability.
AI Image describing: Create descriptions for your images to better categorize and find them later.
Face Recognition: Automatically tag and organize photos based on detected faces.
Visual Search: Search for digital assets based on their actual visual content rather than relying solely on metadata or file names.
Basic (Tier 1+): Focuses on visual appearance (composition, colors, shapes).
Pro (Tier 3+): A hybrid mode that augments visual signals with contextual data (e.g., text/metadata cues).
The initial library indexing fee, required for images to become searchable, is needed on a monthly subscription. On an annual subscription, the initial indexing fee is not required.
Find Similar Images: Use any image in your library as a query to discover other assets that look similar to the reference (source) asset.
Video Intelligence
AI Video Summary: A concise AI-generated description of the entire video that provides a quick understanding of the content without watching it fully.
Transcript: Convert speech in video and audio files into text for easier content management and search.
Actions: Detects specific moments within a video, focusing on what exactly happens at a given timestamp, such as demonstrations or interactions.
Chapters: Automatically divides videos into meaningful sections (for example, introduction, demo, Q&A).
Recognized Text (OCR): Extracts meaningful on-screen text such as slide titles or headings.
Keywords: High-level keywords describing the overall video content.
AI Processing Options:
Pics.io offers flexibility in how your data is processed with our AI tools, giving you control over privacy and data security:
Local AI Processing: For keywording and image captioning, we can process your data on our own infrastructure using internal AI models. This ensures that your data remains within a controlled environment and is not sent to external servers.
Transcription is always processed on our own servers, ensuring your data stays secure.
External AI Processing: Face recognition is processed via Amazon Rekognition, but we can tweak the settings to restrict Amazon's ability to learn from your content.
Visual Search and Find Similar Images are processed on Pics.io infrastructure for maximum security and performance.
Available AI models:
Gemini: This option uses Google's latest AI model to deliver configurable high-quality results quickly. It's the default option due to its optimal balance of accuracy and speed.
Open AI: This model delivers high-quality, fast results and remains available as an alternative to the default.
Pics.io AI: This model prioritizes precision, delivering highly accurate and specific results.
We can easily switch between these AI models upon request. By default, Gemini (Google) is enabled for all users. If you have specific preferences or concerns about how your data is processed, please contact us at support@pics.io to request a different AI model.
AI Kit Tiers
The AI Kit add-on is available starting from the Micro plan and comes in 5 tiers to suit varying levels of usage:
Tier 1: Includes 3,000 credits and 500 minutes for transcription per month, or 36,000 credits and 6,000 minutes annually.
Image Intelligence comes with Visual Search (Basic) and Find Similar Images.Tier 2: Includes 15,000 credits and 2,500 minutes for transcription per month, or 180,000 credits and 30,000 minutes annually.

Tier 3: Includes 30,000 credits and 5,000 minutes for transcription per month, or 360,000 credits and 60,000 minutes annually.
Image Intelligence features Visual Search (Pro) and Find Similar Images.
Tier 4: Includes 75,000 credits and 12,500 minutes for transcription per month, or 900,000 credits and 150,000 minutes annually.

Tier 5: Includes 150,000 credits and 25,000 minutes for transcription per month, or 1,800,000 credits and 300,000 minutes annually.

NB! If your usage exceeds the limits of your current tier, you will be automatically upgraded to the next tier. The difference in price between the current and the new tiers will be deducted from your account.
Subscription Tiers
The AI Kit add-on is available in several tiers, designed to accommodate different levels of usage. Your subscription options for AI Kit depend on your main Pics.io subscription type, whether annual or monthly.
Annual AI Kit Subscription is available if you have an annual Pics.io plan.
Monthly AI Kit Subscription is available if you have a monthly Pics.io plan.
Credit Usage and Billing Information:
Credit Usage: The AI Kit now tracks AI credits instead of assets. Each AI credit represents a single operation performed by any AI service (such as Face Recognition, AI Keywording, AI Descriptions, Image Captioning).
Features like Visual Search or Find Similar Images do not consume AI credits but instead need to be indexed by the search system (on a Monthly plan - for extra fee, on an Annual plan - already included in the plan)
Credit Expiry: Any unused AI actions or transcription minutes will expire at the start of the next billing period and will not roll over.
Downgrade Process: Downgrades can currently only be done manually and will take effect at the beginning of the next billing period. If the system automatically upgrades you to a higher tier, this will become your default tier at the start of the next billing period.
You can keep track of your AI Kit usage through two types of counters available in the Pics.io interface:
Asset Processing Counter: Tracks the number of actions used for Face Recognition, AI Keywording, Image Captioning, Visual Search, or Find Similar Images.
Transcription Minutes Counter: Tracks the minutes of video/audio files transcribed.
To check your usage limits, go to the Billing settings. There, you can also upgrade your AI Kit tier if needed.
NB! When upgrading or downgrading between AI Kit tiers, any unused AI credits or minutes do not accumulate and will not carry over to the new tier. The asset counter will be updated to reflect the number of assets available on the tier you switch to.
NB! If you cancel the AI Kit add-on, the counters for AI actions and transcription minutes will be immediately reset to 0.
Can I still purchase AI credits separately?
Please note that credits can no longer be purchased separately; only AI Kit subscriptions are available. All users on the old credit system have been automatically transitioned to the new system, where 1 credit now equals 1 action that can be processed by an AI service.
