Transferring Pics.io library ownership

Learn how to transfer the ownership of your Pics.io workspace and change the master admin with the steps outlined below.

Written by Eugene

There might be a situation when the master admin of your Pics.io workspace leaves the organization, and you need to change the person managing your media library to continue accessing it. In such a case, it is important to ensure that all your data is secure and that your workflow remains unaffected. Follow the steps below to get familiar with the process of changing the Pics.io team owner and maintaining uninterrupted access to Pics.io.

Steps for transferring Pics.io workspace ownership to a different person

Step 1. Verify the transfer request

The most important thing to understand is the verification. We value the safety of your data and will not let anyone take control of your Pics.io account if no proper verification is passed.

That is why the request should always be sent from the current team owner's email address. In case you don't have access to the team owner's email address anymore, please refer to the information below in the FAQ to see what alternative options you might have.

Step 2. Invite a future team owner of the Pics.io workspace to the team

If the new owner of your workspace should be someone who has not been invited to your Pics.io space yet (you can check all teammates here), then you need to add him/her as your teammate.

In case all the user seats on your team are already occupied, you can reach out to our support team via email at support@pics.io or via the online chat, and we will temporarily add one additional person to facilitate the owner change.

Step 3. Take a closer look at the setup and configuration of your storage

For Pics.io teams working on top of Google Drive, there might be situations when transferring Pics.io account team ownership is not enough.

The thing is that a Pics.io workspace is connected to Google Drive through someone's Google account. You can see what Google account was used to connect Pics.io to Google Drive in the Storage section.

So the account you use to log in to Pics.io may be registered under one email, while the Google account that was used to connect the Pics.io workspace to a working folder may be linked to a different email address. These are not the same accounts.

Please take some time to go through this section and check if you want/need to link another Google account.

It’s an important step to ensure everything will be set up correctly after the transfer.
Mention it in your request, and we will disconnect your current Google account with the connected working folder, allowing you to go through the storage connection process again.

Step 4. Submit your request to support@pics.io

  1. Send us an email from the current Pics.io library owner's email address;

  2. Provide the email address of the designated Pics.io teammate who will receive the ownership transfer. To find the required email address, visit the My Team > Teammates section.

FAQ

  • The person I want to transfer ownership to does not have an associated Pics.io account. What should I do?

The person you want to transfer the new account ownership to has to be invited to your Pics.io team before reaching out with the request.

Learn how to invite a person to the team here: How can I invite my colleagues to Pics.io team?

  • I need to change the Google account connected to Pics.io, but I lost access to it (my Google account has been deactivated).

If there is no way to contact the library owner to verify the request (the email account has been deleted from Google Workspace or no one can access it), there are two possible scenarios.

First, you can contact your system administrator and request a complete account restoration, allowing you to regain access to the associated email. Alternatively, you can ask him to set up email forwarding on your domain so that incoming emails could be forwarded to an active email address of some employee within your organization

To proceed with either option, we recommend reaching out to your system administrator or IT support team for further assistance. They will be able to guide you through the necessary steps and help you regain control over the deactivated account.
